Wallpusher

About Wallpusher

Wallpusher is an independent business focusing on the intersection of the aesthetic and functional, with the purpose to make things that we believe SHOULD exist; things that are not only beautiful, but also things that are asking good questions and trying to make new solutions. That whole process is design, is architecture, is art — it's all integrated. The design and production that happens at Wallpusher is about breaking preconceived notions to achieve the best intersection of the aesthetic and the practical. We can offer new ways of thinking in areas other than guitar making.

Our original handmade electric guitars and bass guitars play and sound great. We make standard necks, shorter fast-playing bass necks, and exciting new prototype necks that offer musicians sound and playing options they have never had before! The instrument's bodies are also carefully designed with solutions for the musician. We have focused on the placement and motion of the hand during a performance. We want the hand to rest comfortable in all playing positions, we want the electrical controls to appear profoundly simple while offering a range of sound options, and we want the functional controls to be easy to reach during play. You will not find anything like this in the stores!

Matthew Bio

Matthew Rogers is the owner and designer of Wallpusher. His 19 year passion has been to think beyond the boundaries of what is available in the marketplace and to make innovative beautiful alternatives. As a young man, he felt his musical abilities were limited by his equipment and, at the age of 15, the Wallpusher Bass was the first example of a tool he created to extend his musical and creative abilities beyond what the typical retail product has to offer.

Wallpusher Basses integrate many innovations that help players to free themselves and push themselves creatively, with comfort and style unrivalled by any bass on the market. Artist Matthew Rogers holds The Diploma of Fine Arts from the Museum of Fine Arts School in Boston, and a B.A. in Philosophy from Gordon College. While Rogers has extensive experience creating solutions in a myriad of areas including musical instruments, home theatres, domestic products, ergonomic furnishings, custom furniture, bookbinding and gilding, he specializes in guitar design and fabrication. Matthew integrates his natural sensibilities as craftsman and an artist to the unique limitations of mass-production. The alternative can be found at Wallpusher.

Recycled and Eco-friendly Materials

What else sets Wallpusher apart? All our guitars and basses are made of recycled materials. From wood formerly used as pews, doors, furniture, etc, to the eco-friendly finishes that seal the carefully chosen wood such as the food-safe walnut oil. At Wallpusher, we value the environment, and work to reduce our carbon footprint by creating new and innovative solutions from already existing materials. If you or someone you know has hardwood cutoffs or scraps of figured wood, we are eager to transform them into beautiful things.
